Every fall, Country Junction puts on a family-friendly festival with so much more than just pumpkins! The festival includes hayrides, alien invasion paint ball, carousel and other midway rides, a petting farm, gourd grenade, gem mining and laser tag. Purchase a “fun card” and use the points to enjoy the different activities. Adults can sip a glass of wine from the adult tent while enjoying live music. And, of course, don't forget to take home a pumpkin when you leave. 2. Carve Jack-o'-lanterns at Pocono Mountain Villas Where: 2157 River Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18302 When: Anytime during your next stay at the Pocono Mountain Villas Take part in this cherished tradition that can get quite creative and intricate! Once you've picked your pumpkins, take them back to your villa, plan your design, and start carving! Do you like ghoulish grins or spine-tingling sneers? Plan your design first with a pen or Sharpie marker before carving. Don't forget to save the pumpkin seeds to bake later! Fun Fact: Did you know the practice of decorating jack-o'-lanterns originated in Ireland? In celebration of an old folk tale, people carved scary faces into turnips and potatoes. Take a haunted ghost tour through the Old Jail Museum Where: 128 West Broadway, Jim Thorpe, PA 18229 When: Every Saturday in October What time: Doors open at 6 p.m., and the last tour leaves at 9 p.m. All tickets are sold at the door. Join your tour guide for a creepy and historical tour through the old Carbon County Jail. Built in 1869, the building and its massive stone walls have played host to convicted murderers, hanging gallows, and a number of suspicious incidents over the decades. You'll hear the true story of the condemned Molly Maguires and see the mysterious handprint of a man who claimed he was innocent. Some people even say they've caught paranormal visitors in their photos! Tours are approximately 25 minutes long, and children under 12 are not permitted.
